With our modern day society with all of it’s pressures, it can sometimes be hard to keep our heads above water and to stay in the game.
So here are some tips to help you go the distance and keep your business boat balanced:
- Have a plan and work the plan.
It is way too easy to be sidetracked with what I call ‘shiny butterflies’ that seek to take you right off course. The key to staying on course is to know what the course actually is! Take the time to create a plan and then work that plan. Then if something comes up you can decide if it is part of the plan or a deviation best avoided.
- Fully utilise available software to automate your processes as much as possible.
I blogged about this in our February newsletter. I cannot stress how much having an automated system helps to reduce your stress levels and to keep you on track.
- Keep a diary and actually refer to it regularly.
Diaries are really helpful because you can set alarms via various methods – text messages, emails, alarm bells etc. Find a system that works for you and never miss another appointment – well, at least, not intentionally.
- Get your family on board.
Nothing more distracting when you are running a small business than a good old fashion family emergency or two, or three, or four… These can really gobble up your time, so it is important that you get your family on board. Share with them your aspirations, your business plans and help them to see the benefit for them supporting you in your business. It is amazing how many ’emergencies’ suddenly get taken care of in a different way once you have the family supporting your dreams. But if they don’t know what the plan is, it is highly likely they will be sabotaging your plans the whole way.
- Invest in good technology.
There is nothing worse than wasting time with computer systems that are out of date and functioning in less than optimal condition. This is wasted time and energy that could be diverted to income making activities. You owe it to yourself and your customers to have the best technology available.
If you would like help to get your business moving in a more positive direction and relate to any of these areas, I am offering a special price for February only. Just three sessions left.
